Bukit Hijau Waterfalls

Tucked deep in the forest of Gunung Inas in the Baling district of Kedah state is the well-known Bukit Hijau Recreational Forest ( or Hutan Lipur Bukit Hijau), famous for its amazing seven-level cascading waterfalls that create seven pools of cool, refreshing crystal clear water. 

It is about 45 km  from Sungai Petani town via Route 67, is a popular picnic destination especially for people living in southern Kedah and Penang.

The beautiful sights of the waterfall along with its greeny surroundings provides a great place for photographers to take a superb shots of the scenery while enjoying relaxing mountain stream and waterfall sound.

The place can get very crowded during weekends and public holidays,  so it is always best to arrive early and find a good picnic spot. 

There are various basic facilities provided there for picnics, camping, trekking and jogging.  In addition to these chalets, food stalls, toilets and prayer room are also provided.


For those who are more adventurous, can experience trekking along the 3 km jungle trails cut through 8 virgin reserve forest that leads up to Gunung Inas (1454 m Altitude).

There are also trails leading to North Star Mountain, Hill and Green Hill Baubak. Details can be obtained from the Tourist Information Centre located in front of  Bukit Hijau Recreational Park.
